How it works

The tool counts the frost-free days between the two dates: that is the length of your growing season.

It then measures from today to your last frost, so you know how many weeks of indoor sowing time you still have.

Finally it offsets the last frost for each hardiness group — hardy crops four weeks early, half-hardy on the date itself, frost-tender crops two weeks later once the soil has warmed.
